The steps taken during data recovery at Aurora

We often receive e-mails and phone calls from worried customers who are wondering how their harddisk is doing, this is something we have full understanding for - we're talking about important data here! The idea behind this information page is to in an easy way explain what happens from when you send in your recovery form to us to when your lost data is returned.

Step 1 - The Recovery form

Even if you're a private person or a person that represents a company filling in the form, the process begins on our website. When you click the "send" button, your request will be sent in an e-mail to us. We create a specific journal for the incident and store your information in our database. A so called S-number is created, this is a unique number for every customer. This Security number will follow you through the whole process, we use this number to retrive your information as fast as possible when needed. This is why we ask you to use this number whenever you contact us.

Step 2 - Confirmation mail

We send you an e-mail informing you that we have received your order. The e-mail confirms that we are expecting your harddisk.

Step 3 - Send us your harddisk

You now send us your defect harddisk using adquate packaging. We do not accept Swedish post packages. It is preferable to send it through one of the following ways; Jetpack, DHL, FedEx, UPS, Box Delivery, Securitas, Swedish post "Företags paket" or PEX (Swedish Post Express). Our addres is: Aurora IT Systems AB, Sportvägen 14, SE-187 35 Täby, Sweden.

Step 4 - Confirmation mail

We will send you an e-mail informing you that we have received your harddisk. The e-mail will also tell you that your harddisk, depending on what priority you have chosen, has been put in queue to begin its data recovery.

Step 5 - The data recovery work process begins

One of our engineers begins the work to recover your lost data. Every harddisk is an individual case where the recovery time and process depends on the damage of your harddisk. RAID Arrays, depends on how injured the media surface might be, how many read heads, the capacity of your harddisk and so on are a few examples of what can effect the timeline. A few defected harddisks demands a longer time with the technical equipment so our engineers can have this going in the background while they work on another project. This way, we can work with multiple projects at the same time.

Step 6 - We keep you updated

We keep you updated through e-mail and phone calls how the process is going. Please observe that if the work process is going as planned and no complications occur, our contact will not be as frequent. This is for a very simple reason; we believe it's better to let our engineers use all their time to recover our clients data instead of leaving daily updates to the administrative staff. If a problem occurs or if there's a risk that we will not be able to save all your data because it is too damaged, we will contact you as soon as possible.

Step 7 - The end results gets sent

When we have finished the data recovery work we will send you the end results through e-mail. This e-mail will include how many files (for example pictures, documents, folders) that have been recovered, also results of a virus control and other relevant facts. We present the timeline and possible price reduction.

Step 8 - The invoice and recovered data gets sent

We send you the invoice and your recovered data to you by your demands. The crashed harddisk is expended and will no longer operate as it used to, this is why, usually you buy a new harddisk from us that we will send to you with your recovered data on it. Another alternative is to send us a new harddisk. We follow your demands.
